The skin secretion of the Kambo frog is known as Vacina do sapo (frog vaccine) and contains the opioid peptides deltorphin, deltorphin I, deltorphin II and dermorphin. Kambo is a purifying medicine, which has a long history of use in South American traditional rituals. In the traditional Kambo ritual,  a heated stick is used to create a small burn(s) in the individual’s skin, and then a secretion from the Kambo frog is applied to the open skin. Once applied this medicine triggers physical cleansing, boosts the immune system, sharpens mental clarity, and releases emotional trauma.
